  1. i have never had a problem with mine. jsut make sure to get the kit that includes the low temp fan switch and use lots of watter wetter. you should have no problems. i think this is a great mod.

  2. ive had mine for approximatley 3 weeks now and have had no problems. I shredded my fan in my radiator so i just removed the fan and replaced basically the whole cooling system. No low temp anything just stock. No problems here, it never get above 60 here tho…well not for a few months.

  3. if youre concerned. check out zionsville.com and get a electircal fan. you could also upgrade the radiator with an all aluminum rad. from zionsv. check it out.

  4. im at work, i have no bookmarks, i just wrote it off the top of my head.

what kind of radiator did you get? is it the one that has a "optional" oil cooler attachment? or is it with an oil cooler? i know they have three diffrent types. also, they offer a six speed tranny for our e36′s i may, down the road, buy one. the get-reg scares me sometimes.

  5. you’re going to want to replace that switch and t-stat or you’re going to overheat. i can almost guarantee it.

original poster… i think i’ve had mine for about 2 months or so and no regrets. i am looking to get an electric fan though in a month or two, when i replace my whole cooling system (radiator, waterpump, hoses). i want it for a peace of mind not cuz i’ve overheated or started to.

  6. i installed the eurosport kit last spring. through the summer there were no problems. even sitting in trafic on 30C+ days. just make sure to get the kit with every thing you need.

  7. I have had problems.

Get the electric fan and you will be ok. Skip it and you are flirting with trouble. (I live in a warm climate) On a hot day, with the ac on and if I am in traffic for more than about 20 minutes (i never timed it) the car will start getting hot. On a normal day if in traffic for more than 3 minutes I can feel the car get heatsoked (stock gauge does not indicate, but aftermarket doesn’t lie). I had a cold thermostat, fan switch and have tried water wetter, none of these replace that primary fan.

  8. You can get by without the mech fan in cold climates and even in warm climates if you never drive in heavy traffic. But before you spend a dime on a thermostat, temp sensor or water wetter just buy an aux electric fan. There is no replacement for air flow across the radiator. The other items only provide a little head room before you overheat. Why waste $50 on useless parts when a proper electric fan is only $100.

Once the idiot light of a temperature gauge moves off TDC you’ve only got a minute or so to either get moving over 40mph for a sustained time or shut the engine down.

  9. ok so the fan delete (im a noob my bad) but all youre doing is removing the fan from the engine bay correct……..so what kinda kit is there to buy i had no shroud on mine at one time and it never got warm (that i knew of)

  10. Why not just keep the stock fan? I doubt theres a distunguishable gain with it gone. Plus it doesnt really take power from your engine until the clutch locks, at normal temps the blade kinda free wheels. Why mess with OEM design?

  11. I’m not prepared to argue whether the load on the alternator is the same as the load of the mechanical fan.

But a $2 switch from Radio-shack lets you turn it off or better yet a $50 thermostat and it cycles by itself. I have both and I turn the whole system off during track sessions and auto-cross runs.

The electric fan moves more CFM than the mech fan. Mine usually only stays on for 30 seconds at a time. In fact it rarely runs at all, but when it is running it is indispensable.

  12. … because one of the problems with it is that it can become weak and brittle and break, or the bearing it is on will start to become weak. it can come in contact with the radiator and within a minute your engine has overheated and chances are you need a new headgasket. it really is a ticking timebomb.

  13. Great! all of us agree with something! What are your own thoughts on the M? BMW whored out M just like Mercedes did with AMG. Whatever occured to producing autos fast that were worth a darn? What person would like a 4500lb pig with 500 hp?
